One cruises through the water like a heat-seeking missile, the other swims gracefully like a giant bird in slow motion. It can become 15 inches long at 2 years of age. The ISAF has 41 attacks by blacktip sharks on record, one of which was fatal. Nothing in their multi-million year evolution prepared them for this intervention into their habitat. One of the more interesting observations in 2009 was a Tomiyamichthys species of shrimp goby that was photographed in the sand patch at 33 meters where the equally surprising discovery of Stonogobiops yasha was made in 2008. Sharks are a crowd of fishes that believed to have lived some 420 million years ago.
