She decided to use as-is wool for the outside border, with the smaller border hooked in a bright turquoise over dyed with brown. The roses, peonies, and leaves are dyed with many pastels and white, using formulas form the book Anyone Can Dye. Esther used Joan Moshimer’s Imar Gold I formula to dye the golds over white, light gold, and beige wool. She also dyed five, 4-ounce skeins of yarn for whipping the edges and for the fringe.
